Gakken Otona no Kagaku vol. 25 – 35mm Twin-Lens Reflex Camera GET!

Another TLR, this time it’s the original Gakkenflex. This arrived yesterday but left forgotten to take out from the car.

The kit includes a book.

Almost similar contents and styro packaging to Recesky 35mm TLR.

Some optional stickers are included as well. Would love to use that wooden pattern.

That model is pretty.

It also shows some unusual yet useful techniques to use the camera.

And of course, the assembly manual.

Interesting little camera, reminds me a lot of the one the protagonist of Ano Natusu.

    • Yes it’s a cool DIY gadget which only needs 35mm film instead of a special slide film (dunno what it’s called) which is used for the real TLR camera. Yet to buy 35mm film for this toy camera though.

Fun little thing. I’ve already got a stack of undeveloped film right now. Can’t wait to see the results. Though from the first batch I got, they were all pretty nice too. Has that very nostalgic feel from plastic lenses. And depending on how you build it, practically has no light leaks on it. You’d might want to leave out the F11 aperture disk so you can have a usable F5.6. Lately, I’ve been experimenting with cellophane on the shutter lens. Have yet to see how that turns out.

    • Missed the chance to buy 35mm film for the gakkenflex. I like this real gakkenflex better than recesky’s. Feels like crap especially during the assembly phase, had to do some tweaking on the shutter’s spring as it won’t properly close. No problem with gakkenflex’s shutter so far.
