 [Tutorials] Removal of Sticking Parts

This is a small tutorial post, a guide for removal of sticking parts of a figure.

Aside from leaning/warping figures, sticking/hardening of 2 or more parts to one another is also considered as one of the problems we possibly encounter.

I had an experience on this kind of problem in the past with my McFarlane Toys’ Spawn Black Knight figure. I left the sword on the hand cuz that’s the way it should be, but after a few months, I decided to remove the sword from the hand but they were already sticking to each other (or maybe it was holding so tight). Being inexperienced in taking care of my figures, I recklessly resort to forcefully pulling off of the sword from the hand. There, the lower part of the handle broke leaving it inside the clenching fist. If I was fond of reading tutorials, then that probably wouldn’t have happened.

Anyway, my subject for the tutorial today will be my GSC Nendoroid BRS. The problem- her hand and the sword (black blade)  sticking to each other. I tried to pull and twist them from light to moderate pressure but none of them worked. Good thing the sword handle was thick. So thereafter, I applied the theory of fixing leaning/warped figures – softening of the plastics. Luckily it was a success.

Method: Hot water / softening method
Materials: 1 glass hot water, 1 glass cold water (optional)

Hot water, Nendoroid BRS hand & sword (sticking to one another)

Leave the tightened/sticking parts on a glass of hot water for 5 seconds or more. Try to pull or twist them lightly. Repeat if necessary. If the parts are really soft, try leaving it on a cold water to harden the part(s).

Success. But one should not expect no paint chipping off after the process. Take a closer look at this photo.

There. Another tutorial posted. It’s not really that special of a tutorial but hope this would be a good help to those newbies out there.

Thank you for reading and stay tuned for more tutorials soon.

PS. Excuse my bad english. I took my learning for granted. ToT
