Glass Shelf Cleanout
Cleaning out the glass shelf awhile ago. I was already planning to do so just weeks ago but keep on getting delayed.
And thick dusts accumulating on the shelf is not a surprise.

Removed all of my Gashapons. The third layer is reserved for figma(s) to come.
Else, for other figures or Model kits since I am already out of space for model kits in the wooden display cab.

Unwanted figures like gashapons should be packed with ziplock bags and place it somewhere till they rot.
Kidding aside, don’t know what to do about them anymore.

All in all, cleaning the open shelf is not an easy task for collectors especially when figures start to attract oil, dusts, etc.
Gonna start designing another display cabinet again soon.

Don’t think I could ever leave my stuff out in the open since dust is a damned terror over here at my place, you’re a real brave man xD And I never have the patience to really clean my stuff. Though the Detolf isn’t exactly foolproof when it comes to dust, it limits the damage somewhat that I can ignore cleaning ^^; Made the mistake of touching some glass while rearranging just yesterday though, and left a streak in a dust filled layer. Was forced to clean out that section since the mark was pretty obvious -.-”
I’m thinking I have to go shop for another display case soon. Wish I could design a display cabinet like you do, haven’t really went around to get a quote yet, but I have the feeling that custom stuff over here won’t come cheap since labor charges over here are really crazy.

@shino: Well… to think that yer beloved figures are being embraced by oils, dusts, etc in the open, it’s pretty scary. It’s really a pain when removing them. Some of my revoltech figures already had them.
It’s really simple to design cabinets, just estimate the height and width of every layer. I use fireworks 8 to design my own cabinet. But the annoying thing was that last time I commissioned a carpenter to do my design, he added some unnecessary stuffs which ruined my design.

most closed display cases still have gaps around the door hinges so a twice a year dusting is still necessary
I had a china dish cabinet that was completely sealed though
I added weatherstripping to my CD case which I rarely open
have you bought a swifer duster yet? thats what I use

Twice a year dusting is not enough when you have construction projects going around your area, once every 3 months. :\ I only have two figures out in the open, they have to be cleaned every month.

Dust seems to like to cover figures…
I have to clean them every week…to keep the dust off the figure…

@ potato: Don’t wanna bother cleaning the display cabinet. Mendokusai desu.
@ Panther: Do you know what to use when removing oils and stains that are sticking on the figure?
@ Rin: Good thing you aren’t lazy.
