My Handphone History

Ever since I was in my 1st year high school, I really wanted to have my very own handphone as some fellow students in school has one. It was the period where Nokia 5110 made its popularity among teens. I used to borrow my Mom’s Ericsson S868 phone when texting with my friends whom already had phones that time. One day, I was really happy when I received a Nokia 5110 from my Dad… Actually, the phone was given to him by his friend’s company, so, it was supposed to be his’ phone but he already had a Nokia 6150 (which was already an executive-looking phone that time) long before that so, he just gave it to me since I so want one.. I’m really not a PC otaku that time don’t even know what is a memory, hard drive, etc. so I really didn’t care about computers at all..  The stupid thing there is that I treat  handphones like toy like changing my phone every less than 6 months, longest was 1 year.

History of owned/borrowed handphones:
Since I really can’t recall when I possessed that specific phone, will just list down the phone’s make and model.
Nokia:
5110, 6110, 3210, 3310, 8210, 6510, 3510i, 6610, 6100, 3230, 6060, 8910, 6280, N61i
Motorola: MPx200, E389
Panasonic: VS6
Samsung: E730, D820
Sony Ericsson: T610, T630, K500, K700, K608, P910i, W850i

All in all, have used up the total of 26 phones. Imagine having used up this crazy amount of phones just within 11 years..
and am currently owning only just 3 phones which is Panasonic VS6 (Seeking buyers), SE P910(Seeking buyers). SE W850i (Lurve this phone so, not selling it yet but considering for trade-up to a new phone).

Am currently considering to trade-up/sell my current phones for one of these phones mentioned:
Nokia: N81 8GB, N96 (This phone company is the last thing that I consider getting one of their products. I just want the huge screen size of their latest models)
Samsung: F480
Sony Ericsson: W910i, P1i, C905 (Prioritized. Am a SE fan but the small screen sizes of the phone is a turnoff)

Seems like I still go crazy over handphones especially when I see a real-life phone that is similar/actual to the phones from anime that I have watched (i.e. Sousuke Sagara’s 903SH phone by Sharp). Seems like some animes are promoting that specific phone model to the otaku(s) out there..

Lastly, question to the readers:
How many phones have you used till date?
How often do you change your handphone?
Which design(flip/slide/block) do you prefer?
What feature(s) do you consider when buying a new phone?

Hmm… Interesting, will have to use this comment to sum up the number of phones I have used to date, my first was the 6110, then the 8210, then 8850, then the T610, and now the K800i. So I guess it’s just 5! Heheh. Never been too big into the technology scene, just switching phones when they die on me, or in the case of switching from the 8850 to T610, more because the 8850 was single band and I had to travel abroad. And now to the K800 since the T610 was dying on me then ^^

    So I really don’t change my cell often, only when it’s necessary I guess. And other than the 8850, every other model was a block type, so I guess you know my preference there =) And as I mentioned, I’m not too big on features, so as long as it can make phonecalls, it’s a great phone. I do have a weird quirk though I guess, I must be able to sorta flip the phone around between my index and thumb, which is why I’m not exactly too happy with the k800 since the top half is bulkier and offs the balance of the phone ^^;

@Shino: Good that you don’t change your phone that much. Whenever I see cool looking phones, I get tempted to buy one.
Whenever I get tempted, I couldn’t sleep at night then the next day, go purchase that phone, regret later for not being carefully looking at the phone’s features just like how I bought the Nokia N61i few months ago… my purpose was the wifi feature of the phone so I could use the net w/o paying for the network… and to see free wifi hotspots. Good thing the phone was sold off to my mom’s friend… Currently planning not to change phone for awhile.. The features that I want is at least 2.4in screen and which has usually 240×320 screen resolution, battery life, bluetooth, w/ card slot. My W850i suits the description except that sceen which is only 2in…
